Elliott has always loved being outdoors, and the two of us spend a lot of time on the front porch. Sometimes he plays on a blanket and sometimes we swing on the front porch swing together. He loves to watch the trees blowing in the wind, the people walking by, the cars zooming past, and he especially loves to feel the wind blowing on his face. So, we thought he would love having a swing of his own to enjoy. I desperately wanted to find a tree branch in the front yard to hang it on, but unfortunately we’re fresh out of sturdy tree limbs around here. The 75 year-old elm tree that covered our entire backyard when we bought the house would have been a good candidate, but it came crashing down the night we moved in…perhaps that story would be worth reminiscing about in another blog post.  So, we decided to go for the next best thing. David converted a pergola that was in our backyard when we bought the house into a swing set. It works great, and Elliott absolutely loves his new ride!

  1. That’s perfect! Elliott is too cute in his big swing!

Shh…don’t tell but I think Bennett might be getting a swing for his birthday. Too bad we don’t have any big trees to swing from either. Maybe in 10 years or so…

  2. What a precious boy you have! Looks like he LOVES his new swing. I wish we could get Blake a swing, but we have NO trees sturdy enough to support one! 😦
ps. Thanks for commenting on my blog!

  3. That’s too cute! Great idea.
