Deep in the heart of Texas

Luke, Krista, Anastasia, and Evangeline came from Maryland for a 17 day visit to Texas!  We hadn’t seen them since Christmas so we were all excited to get to spend some quality time with the four of them.  Elliott was finally old enough to interact with his cousins and he absolutely loved them!  By the end of their stay he seemed to recognize them and he would get excited when he saw them.  He especially seemed to like spending time with Evangeline.  And, his Uncle Luke made him laugh every time he saw him!

I really enjoyed getting to spend time with Krista.  She is the closest thing I have to a sister and I really value her friendship as well.  She has lots of good mothering advice and I admire her passion for the Lord.  The next time we see each other she will have three kids!  I can’t wait to meet the newest little Welch baby!

While they were here we took advantage of a free ticket I had for the zoo.  The girls had a blast!  They really loved the train and they did not want to get off of the carousel when the ride was over.

We also took the kids to the park one day and had a picnic.  The girls had the best time swinging.  They were both yelling “higher” over and over again.  It was really cute.

Anastasia had the best time exploring the forts and slides on her own.

I love this picture of Evangeline and Elliott swinging in the same swing!

I’m sorry I don’t have more pictures to share, but I was really bad about taking a lot while they were here.  We also went to story time at the library, saw fireworks on the 4th of July, and spent an afternoon at the duck pond near the Trinity River.  Of course, we enjoyed lots of wonderful home-cooked meals by Janet and made the obligatory trip to Rosa’s…yum!  David got to spend a lot of time with Luke, too.  We loved having them here…I just wish they lived closer so that we could see them more often!

  2. Does everyone call that park the duck park? No one seems to call it by its real name! Looks like y’all had a fun visit!
