Splish, splash!

Stacey and I have been talking about getting together for an all-day affair for the longest time now….and last week, we finally made it happen!  Not too long ago we were both living in Dallas just minutes from each other, and now, just 2 years later, we live on opposite ends of the metroplex!  We still manage to see each other fairly often, but we would both love to get together more.

Elliott and I set out for Allen right around his morning naptime so that he could sleep in the car…and that he did!  Once we got there we packed some sack lunches and headed out for the splash park!  I have been wanting to take Elliott to a splash park all summer long!  Until a few days ago I didn’t think there were any in Fort Worth, but I recently discovered that there is one in Crowley.  We will definitely be checking that one out, too!

The splash park we went to in Allen was even better than I expected!  Who knew there were so many ways to squirt water??  There were misters, water guns, water fountains that looked like umbrellas, water shooting out of the ground, water dumping from buckets up above, and even a dragon that roared and sprayed water out of its mouth!  Elliott was definitely intrigued by it all and he was a lot braver than I expected.  There were a lot of big kids running around, but he just got right in there with them and had a blast!  He especially loved the red rings that misted water.

Here he is practicing his walking!  What a big boy!

Bennett was cautious around the water, but he really enjoyed circling the perimeter!

Elliott The Brave!  Here he is doing his “knee-scoot” across the park.

Right next to the splash park was an awesome playground!  Elliott particularly loved this bubble window.

Back at home we gave the boys a bath.  It was Elliott’s first time taking a bath with a friend…and it was his first time to take a bath in a big bath tub!

After bathtime and naptime, Stacey and I enjoyed a rare treat of shopping for groceries without babies while Jeff watched the boys…thanks, Jeff!  And, David took the train from Fort Worth to avoid traffic and made it to Allen just in time to put Elliott to bed!

Once the babies were in bed we grown-ups enjoyed a gourmet dinner on the front porch!  The food was delicious and the company was even better!  We chatted late into the evening…mostly about our adventures in parenting!  It was so much fun being with good friends and trying something new!  Thanks for a special day, Stacey & Jeff!
