A Day at the Museum

I have been wanting to take Elliott to the Fort Worth Children’s Museum for the longest time.  Yesterday, we joined our friends, Katie and Howard, and went on a whim.   The current museum is being renovated and will be done in November! I can’t wait! Until then, the children’s exhibits are housed in the Cowgirl Museum next door.

The boys had sooooo much fun exploring and having the freedom to do and touch whatever they wanted!

The truck and the train were a big hit!  Howard and Elliott took turns getting into the driver’s seat.

The “just my size” grocery store was spectacular!  The boys looked so grown up perusing the aisles by themselves and putting food into the cart.  They even took turns pushing the cart.

Elliott had to try everything before deciding to buy!

This tiny grocery store even had a scanner and a cash register!

I think Elliott’s favorite part of the museum was this little house.  It had a door bell, a phone, a light switch, and a kitchen sink!  It also had foam bricks inside the walls that the kids could take in and out.

Katie and I managed to get the boys to dress up in these precious construction worker hats and vests.  They ditched the hats, but continued wearing their vests for the majority of our visit…so cute!

Hey!  Even construction workers have to shop for groceries!

After playing for a while in the kid’s space we headed upstairs to check out the bucking bronco.  Ride ’em cowboy!

I couldn’t take pictures in the other parts of the museum, but we also visited a campfire cookout where the boys got to pretend they were cooking…cowboy style, a tee-pee, and a cowboy dress-up room!

We had such a fun time with our friends!  Thanks for being spontaneous and joining us at a moment’s notice, Katie and Howard!  It was well worth the $8!

  1. Looks like y’all had a blast! I can’t wait to see it all finished in a few months.

Isn’t it so fun that our boys are getting old enough to really enjoy those kinds of experiences? I love it!

  2. That is so cute! I wish we hadn’t already had plans that morning or we totally would have joined you.

I love them shopping and wearing the vests!

  3. How fun I love taking the kids there. I’m not sure if you know but the house in the last picture will record a video of them riding it. There is a little button about the saddle. The horse doesn’t move unless you rock it but it still really cute. Here is a video of Kenya riding it.
