Beach Bummer

David had a three day weekend last week and I thought it would be fun and festive to take Elliott to the lake to experience his first “beach”.  He’s not too crazy about the water these days, but he loves playing in the sand.  After a brief search online I found the nearest lake and we made plans for the day.  We packed a picnic lunch, gathered as many sand toys as we could, and loaded up the car with beach towels, sunscreen, and other beachy things.

After a few wrong turns and what seemed like a million years we finally arrived to the “beach”…bummer.   It was not the beautiful sandy beach that any of us had imagined by any means, but we decided to make the most of it.   We had a nice picnic lunch in the breeze and played in the water a bit.  Elliott had a great time loading rocks into his pail and throwing them into the water.  He even managed to dig up a bit of sand hiding underneath the rocks.  I probably overdid my apologies to him for the lack of sand because he really didn’t seem to care.  Next time I will do my homework and we will build that sand castle!

  1. Not sure what lake you found, but I’ve heard the “beach” area in Granbury is pretty nice. Maybe we should check it out together one day!
