1 Year Ago Today

Sweet Evan,

April 8, 2009: Evan Nehemiah

1 year ago today, we discovered that we lost you. Our hearts were broken.  We wanted to hold you and know you so badly. But, alas, we live in a fallen and broken world. We found comfort in your maker, our God, and our stronghold. For our flesh and our hearts may fail, but he is our strength and our portion forever. His promises give us hope…especially during this season when we remember and celebrate Christ’s resurrection and victory over death.

Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 15:54-57

Because of you, Evan, God drew us closer to Him, reminding us that we can find happiness in Him, no matter what our circumstances are.  Because of you, we rejoiced and God received the glory….and there is nothing that pleases Him more than that!  You are so important to us, Evan.   We will never forget you, and we will never stop praising God for creating you!

Your way, O God, is holy.  What god is great like our God?  You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.  Psalm 77:13-14

  1. I thought of you all this month, I couldn’t remember the exact day but you you have been in my thoughts. You have glorified God through this post and your words.

  2. I agree with Shelley.

  3. Beautiful words, my dear friend. I love your heart, your perspective and your trust in the Lord. You and David are such wonderful parents and your love for all of your children (known and as yet unmet) inspires me to love my children well every day.

  4. Your words and quoted verses also remind me of this song/video that Igniter recently finished. Hope it blesses you.
