I enrolled Elliott in a gymnastics class at the Hurst Rec Center because it was an awesome deal and it only lasted 5 weeks.  I figured for a mere $16 he could expend some energy and play with other kids his age.  On the other hand, if he hated it, we weren’t out that much.  The thirty minute drive there and back for a thirty minute class was a bit of a pain, but Elliott absolutely loved it!  Parents weren’t allowed inside the gym until the last class for pictures and videos, but we could watch through the windows.  It was neat to be somewhat of a fly on the wall watching from the outside, but not being able to hear what was going on.  Ms.  Tammy does such an incredible job handling all of those 3 and 4-year olds by herself!  And, as you can see in the video, Elliott was really proud to show off his skills on the last day.  I think it’s so cute that the teacher has all the kids say “ta-da!” after they finish their skills.

I’ve already signed him up for the 8 week class that starts next week.  And, to make our drive more worthwhile we let him pick out another class to take right before his gymnastics class.  Curious to know what he chose?  He was dead set on Hands on Math.  I asked him if he knows what math is and he said “no”.  After I told him he was still convinced that he wants to take the class, and I’m certain it’s because the description says that they will be using musical instruments to help them learn.  Hmmmm…I can’t wait to see how it goes…

  1. That’s so awesome!!!

  2. Miss Tammy is great! And we look forward to the math adventure with you guys.
