Super Chef

A few months ago a Groupon deal came through for the Young Chef’s Academy and I immediately bought one.  Elliott absolutely loves all things kitchen.  He has always loved helping me out in our own and he loves to play pretend kitchen as well.  I knew that his friend, Nadia, had attended before and loved it so we asked her if she wanted to join in on the fun.

Louanne and I sat outside with the littles and watched the big kids cook!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I loved the small class size and that the head chef let each kid have a turn at each step of the process.  Elliott even got to crack an egg!!  Yikes…I haven’t been brave enough to try that one in our kitchen yet.  They made a yummy fruit salad complete with lime zest! Elliott got a kick out of the special protective gloves they got to wear while grating the lime peel.

They also made angel food croutons.  While they were baking they played “hide the lime”.  Each kid got a turn to hide the lime somewhere in the kitchen while the others hid their eyes.  Then, the race was on to be the first to find it!  I think we will have to try this at home!  It sure seemed to make the wait for the goodies go faster!

And, of course, afterward everyone enjoyed the treats!
