Jude’s Bug Birthday Bash!

How can it be that this sweet boy is already TWO??  Time has flown by with this one and we could not adore him more.  Jude is full of spunk and always making us laugh.  He continues to be our little dare-devil, finding mischief at every turn.  He absolutely loves bugs so what better way to celebrate turning 2 than with a BUG birthday party?  With the help of my amazing mother and mother-in-law we were able to throw an adorable little party at the park complete with dinner, cake, and a pinata.  And, the best part was that it was all done with no stress for me!!  I sure have loved going all out for Elliott’s parties in the past, but this one took the cake for being the easiest and the most stress-free!

Keeping with the low-stress theme we decided to keep the invite list small, including some of Jude’s little friends as well as their siblings (and moms and dads, of course!).  We started with a picnic dinner of pizza, chips, and fruit!

My mom made these adorable bug cookies!  She is way more talented than I am and they were every bit as delicious as they look!

After dinner it was time to play!

I love this picture of Jude with his buddy, Noah.  Noah’s mom, Barbara, is Jude and Elliott’s babysitter when I am at work.  Their family absolutely adores our boys and they have taken them in as their own over the last few years.  Noah is a great example of a big brother for Elliott and we are so grateful for the influence that they have had on the boys.

Next up, the pinata!  The birthday boy went first and then the kids took turns in order of age.

I think my favorite thing about this video is the stunned look on Jude’s face when I take the stick away from him!

Guess who finally busted the bug??  You got it!  Big brother, Elliott!!  Here he is showing off his big bug busting muscles.  Pretty tough, huh?

I was amazed at how careful the kids were about choosing their candy.  This was our first party to have a pinata, but from what I can remember about pinatas there is usually a mad rush to grab as much candy as you can.  These guys were kind and polite and took their time picking out what they wanted to put in their bags!

And, for the grand finale…the CAKE!!  My mom is simply amazing.  Can you believe this thing?  Every birthday she puts so much work into making the cake and she never disappoints.  I am so thankful for her and her amazing abilities!!

Talk about a sugar overload!

Party favors were simple…candy from the pinata and blow horns!

We saved gifts for later, but Noah insisted that he get to see Jude open the gift from him.  It was a Cars Mater bubble mower and Jude loves it!

A great time was had by all!  What sweet memories we have from this day.

Happy, happy birthday, baby boy, Jude.  You are such a blessing to our family.  We are looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you over the years!
